Our June meeting was designated a charity workshop day and today's task was the making of turbans to be donated to cancer sufferers who had lost their hair due to chemotherapy.
Our band of workers was rather reduced in size this month but despite this we swung into action.
There were sewers,
cutters
and a designated ironing lady.
Very soon the pile of finished turbans was beginning to grow.
We used a large variety of colourful materials for the turbans this year and a very different pattern.
Here's what the finished article looks like.
By the end of the day we had 40 colourful turbans finished and ready to deliver.

Today I took delivery of another dozen clothing protectors ( adult sized bibs) . Many thanks to those sewers. The ones we sewed earlier were delivered in April to Young Care at Sinnamon Park and were very gratefully received.
The Love and Care Quilts Program is going very well.
I have quite a few lovely quilts for children already.
This is an on-going project for the year - something for our members to do inbetween other projects and gives us the opportunity to experiment with quilt designs a little.
We now have labels which say:
"Handmade with love
by members of QCWA Moggill"
It is important that all our handmade items for charity have a label where possible so we hope that these will work out.
Ione has applied last months lessons on making yo-yos to hairclips for her grand daughters.
As well asseveral finished knee rugs the Knitwits have produced some lovly teddies
Finally, next month Ione will be instructing us in this technique.
Ione says it is a lot easier if your material is starched to give it better body.
Please bring along your cutting tools and board as it will involve a lot of cutting.
