BIGGEST MORNING TEA FOR CANCER

As we did last year the Biggest Morning Tea For Cancer was a time when the CWA ladies joined with our local churches and the Moggill Primary school to raise money for Cancer research.

This year we provided a delivery service to local businesses.
A terrific array of raffle prizes were ready to be won.

and of course a terrific band of workers provided lovely food for morning tea.

With all those goodies it was a great result for Cancer Research.

EASTER ANTICS

Easter was celebrated at the monthly Social Day in April and what is an Easter celebration without a parade of Easter bonnets ?

Lots of our members showed off their hat- making skills and a fun time was had by all.

And the winner is ......

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY LUNCHEON

The International Women's Day Luncheon held on Friday March 12th was a resounding success.

A scrumptious lunch was provided by our wonderful Moggill ladies - Julia Mutusik ( who oversaw the operation and provided the main course ) and Margaret Baildon, Mary Traise, Sylvia Stobbs and Anne Abbot (who provided desserts). As well as the luncheon home cooked treats were enjoyed with coffee and tea.

It was a huge job with lots of work behind the scenes. Thank you to these fantastic ladies.

The kitchen was a hub of activity on the day and the South Coast Catering group was most helpful and hardworking. Many thanks Mary & Bill Dalgleish and Janice Bryant.

Seventy- eight attendees learnt about the mercey ship "Africa Mercy" from the guest speaker Dr Hannah Krause. Her talk and slide show informed us how the mercy ship first came into being and how it continues to operate, depending entirely on volunteer medical staff.

Dr Krause spoke of various treatments to women (and men) who would not necessarily get the medical help they need  without this facility.

A final thank you to Anne Abbot who entertained the group as MC on the day.

All in all a very enjoyable and successful day.

MARCH HANDCRAFT DAY

The March Handcraft Day got off to a great start with the block of the Month being a 9 Patch block.
Pam took us all in hand with her clear instructions and we were all soon hard at work on our blocks.

While this was happening the Knitwits were busy finishing off some more rugs.

There was an entry to the tea cosy competition on display,

 a lovely shawl too

and finally two finished quilts.

Another productive and very enjoyable day.

OFF TO A GREAT START

The year has got off to a great start with a very successful Social Day and birthday party.
We even had a cake organised by Shirley. (and yummy it was too, thanks Shirley.)

The car park was absolutely full and the sound of laughter and chatter echoed through Bellbowrie.
New members were welcomed and lots of catching up was done along with a little sewing, playing Mahjong etc.

The following week we had the first of our monthly Handcraft Days for the year.
