OCTOBER CRAFT DAY

It was all hands on deck in October wrapping some of the beautiful items for the Christmas Craft Stall to be held at the Saturday Market at Brookfield.

All sorts of lovely items have been prepared - gift packs of toiletries, cards .....

Meanwhile the Knitwits were puzzling over the placement of squares.

As usual, Show and Tell brought some lovely quilts for us to see.

and a couple of finished little houses too !

See you next time.

OCTOBER SOCIAL DAY

As well as being the usual Social Day with lots of chatter and fellowship our October Social Day was the scene of the branch FLoral Art Competition.

There were plenty of lovely flowers in evidence

in many different sections of the competition.

as well as the usual stall selling plants and cuttings.

While the judging was taking place it was back to fun and games for the members!

SEPTEMBER CRAFT DAY

There was a great turnout at this month's Craft Day.

The Knitwits were soon down to business with lots of rugs being handed in a labelled today.

Wendy set up a table

and soon had a band of helpers working on items for the Christmas Market Stall.

And the rest of Material Girls ?
Today's workshop was Foundation Paper Piecing and our capable teacher, Leslie, was instructing us to make a little house like this.

Careful instructions were given...

and given again !!

We really tried to get it right !

There was a lot of sharing .... and unpicking  !!

Soon the little houses began to emerge

We broke at lunch for Show and Tell.
There were too many Knitwit rugs to show them all here but here are a few.

Some tiny ones for babies

Tea Cosies

Teddies

A finished project from last year - Convergance Quilt

and last month's Reversible-Quilt-as You-go Log Cabin projects finished.

Can't wait to see all of the finished little houses !

BIRTHING KITS

September's Social Day saw a hive of activity at the church.
For months members have been hemming sheets and collecting items that are included in the Birthing Kits.
It was time to pack them up .

It wasn't long before a production line was formed to put the kits together.
Even our local Federal Member Jane Prentice was there to lend a hand.

They were then packed up in boxes and the first 200 were ready to be shipped to East Timor. We hope to send 1000 in 2012.

Transport arranged by Toll and I think distribution by Rotary.

and passed us on to Shirley's raffles !!!

There were interesting displays to check out

Next it was time for Shirley's raffle

The Spice Girls provided a wonderful spread with a touch of Chile

You can see how well appreciated it was !!

AFTERNOON TEA WITH THE MOGGILL GUIDES

Wednesday 8th August saw seven members of Moggill CWA attending a wonderful afternoon tea with Moggill guides at their newly refurbished Guide Hut.

The hut was damaged during the 2011 floods when floodwaters reached the ceiling. Before moving to the Bellbowrie Community Church we had held our meetings in this hut.

The Guides had set out a wonderful afternoon tea, then entertained us with songs and stories.

The members regaled the guides with tales of the 'good old days'.
It was a delightful experience to be in the company of such enthusiastic and polite young girls.
