CRAFT DAY PROGRAM 2011

This is the proposed program for our Craft Day - the second Thursday of each month - for the coming year.
Joining the Material Girls in these activities are the Knitwits.
Each month they are there knitting, crocheting and nattering away!

At a recent night meeting they handed over scarves and beanies to the Leprosy Association.

Of course the lovely rugs they make are still an ongoing project and they are planning new projects for 2011.

Please come and join us if you see anything that sparks your interest
and we will be calling on members to assist on our Charity Challenge days

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

As is our custom we celebrated our branch birthday at the first Social Day of the year.

This year we are 8 years old......

.. and we celebrated with our usual fantastic morning tea and of course a  cake !

The year ahead certainly looks promising if the numbers at this first get together are any indication.

Over 50 members attended and the noise was deafening!!

Isn't it great to be back ?

WELCOME TO 2011

To say the year started badly for a lot of our local residents is putting it mildly.

The dreadful floods of early January have brought devastation to Bellbowrie but our little community has rallied together and, I think, come out a winner.

Led by Jenny Stowell the Moggil CWA ladies swung into action, providing support for families fleeing from flood waters engulfing their homes.

Then we  did what we do best.
We provided food by the truckload to the workers who turned up in huge numbers to clean, clean, clean after the floodwaters had receded as well as feeding displaced families as the need arose.

With Jenny at the helm directing the distribution, morning tea, lunch and drinks were delivered to the sites of these huge working bees.

All of this was greatly appreciated by the thirsty workers who were up to their eyeballs in filthy mud as they sifted through the heartbreaking mess that emerged from the water.

A big thank you to Jenny for her fantastic leadership.

Ladies you make me proud to be a member of Moggill CWA

BRANCH END OF YEAR BREAK -UP

Well Ladies another year at Moggill CWA has come to an end.

Where did the time go?

They say time goes fast when you're having fun and we certainly had plenty of that over the last year.

On Friday 3rd December we celebrated the end of our year with a function held at the Bellbowrie Sport & Recreation Club where they put on a lovely luncheon for us all.

First you had to negiotiate the raffle table where Grace had done her usual stirling job of collecting lots of prizes for a multi-draw raffle.

We were all soon settled in a very festive setting ready to enjoy the day.

Rosanne welcomed us all

.... including special guests.

We were entertained with poetry reading ....

and carol singing.

Margeret was at home behind the bar !!!!

and was responsible for organising the lovely day......

ably helped by the staff at the Sports and Rec

who put on a delicious feast of Christmassy fare

which was eagerly consumed by the ladies present.

There were smiles and laughter all over the room

as Moggill CWA ladies partied...

It's one of the things we do best !!!

Merry Christmas Everyone

See you next year

QCWA CONFERENCE - OCTOBER 2010

This is where our branch winners go on to compete with entries from all over the state in the Photography competition.

We were well represented in the Piecemaker's competition for a black and white and one other colour bag.

In fact one of our Piecemakers' members, Pam Strange, who belongs to Sunnybank branch won the competition

Shirley and Pam were there holding the fort at the shop every day

They were helped out with a willing band of volunteers and they thank them all.

CHRISTMAS STAR TREE

Thanks to all those wonderful ladies who contributed a star to decorate our Christmas tree at Brookfield.

As you can see it looked lovely.

Just shows what " STARS" we are here at Moggill CWA !!
